About Sweet Surrender

Sweet Surrender was founded in 2020 by Amelia van der Merwe, a passionate baker with a deep love for South African sweet traditions. Amelia, a graduate of the Silwood Cookery School in Cape Town, wanted to share the unique flavors and stories behind these desserts with the world.

Our mission is to preserve and celebrate South African bakery culture, providing authentic recipes, insightful articles, and a platform for sharing sweet memories. We believe that food is more than just sustenance; it's a way to connect with our heritage and create lasting moments with loved ones.

Our team also includes Jan Botha, our head recipe developer, who hails from Durban and brings a wealth of knowledge about Indian-influenced South African sweets, and Fatima Patel, our Cape Malay dessert expert. Together, we are committed to providing you with the best South African dessert experience online.
